Language MAP Test

For those who wish to have the language assessment MAP test for their Grade 2 child, we will run that test Thursday, June 3–just like the others. Participating will give you some additional insights in the report that will come out with your child’s report card. We do not usually run this test, but given the circumstances these past fourteen months, you may find it helpful. Grades 3+ do take this test. However, if you feel your child has had enough of these tests, there is no requirement to participate.

Map Testing REMINDER

Once again, MAP testing is scheduled to start Tuesday, Jun 1—TOMORROW. Normally, we would do this in-school, of course. We are planning to facilitate it for at-home administration for Grades 2-8.

The first step is to determine that your devices and internet are at least at the minimum readiness requirements. To do that, use this link and follow the steps for each device.

We will follow the schedule on the Map Testing Schedule for the sessions which will be on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. When it is your child’s testing time, he/she can click on the red Meet link to join with a teacher for instructions. (The link is the same for ALL sessions for ALL grades.) A test link and session code will be posted in the two right columns to begin the test. After instructions, students will be dismissed from the Meet, but can re-join anytime for questions or clarification. Of course, students cannot receive help from others or from other resources.

As the notes on the shared sheet explain, the main purpose of the testing is to help us on the school side to evaluate how well we are delivering the school curriculum. It will help your child realize that it is not so much about evaluating them. As before, we will distribute reports on the norm-referenced results with the next issue of report cards. See the Notes area for more pointers.

If you feel this would be too stressful for your child, please let us know and we will happily make other arrangements when school is back in session.

I hope you and your children enjoy the challenge!

Eureka!

The principle of displacement was discovered by Archimedes, when he was in the middle of a bath, in his tub. It is said that he ran straight out of the bath tub screaming “Eureka” which means “I found it” in Greek.

Archimedes In Bath Thumbs Up Eureka Ancient Greek ...
Well done, Grade 1 and 2, for keeping positive and working hard every day. I hope you are making many important Eureka discoveries as you learn! Thank you, Miss Hayes, for teaching every day and making learning fun!
