Occasional Personal Support Workers: (Updated November 2022)

Alliston Community Christian School is looking for occasional Personal Support Workers to join our staff for the 2022-23 school year. 

As an occasional Personal Support Worker (PSW), you would be placed on a call-list to be contacted in the event that there is a vacant position on any particular school day. 

Your role will be to provide health and welfare assistance to an individual student with learning challenges. You will work with an individualized assistance plan for a student at ACCS in such a way that removes barriers that limit a student’s inclusion in the classroom. You will be supported as you work closely with the Special Education Resource Teacher and classroom teachers at ACCS. Guidance and training will be provided by ACCS. ACCS expects that you, as a Personal Support Worker, will:

  • … be a Christian, sharing your faith and biblical knowledge within the mission of our school
  • .… demonstrate compassion for the children with whom you work with, being sensitive to the child’s character and seeing the child as a unique person, blessed by God and gifted with individual talents and abilities despite limitations
  • .… demonstrate insight and understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional and spiritual growth of students with developmental challenges. Your previous experience and training as a PSW is an asset. Valid First Aid/CPR certification is required and will be supported by ACCS
  • .… communicate effectively with your coworkers at ACCS, respecting lines of confidentiality and advocating for the needs of the student entrusted to your care
  • .… work collaboratively with others, embracing and supporting the Christian culture of ACCS.

Positions available will involve between 0 and 30 hours of work per week. Pay will reflect ACCS’s current compensation report and your previous training and work experience.

Educational Assistant: (Updated November 2022)

Alliston Community Christian School is looking for a part-time Educational Assistant to join our team!

As an Educational Assistant, you’d be asked to provide educational support for children identified for special assistance by an Individual Education Plan (IEP).  You will be working with children in 1-to-1 and/or small group settings, providing guidance and support as students complete their classwork.  Your work will be supported by the Special Education Resource Teacher and classroom teachers as you advise students ranging in age from 4 to 13 years old.  In this role, you will be influential in helping students develop a growth mindset that carries them through their future.

Are you an new or experienced teacher looking for part-time, or occasional work?  Alliston Community Christian School is searching for Christian teachers who will provide classroom supervision on days when our regular staff are unavailable.  Send your resume and cover letter to principal@allistonccs.com.  A current vulnerable sector police screening is required for employment at ACCS.
