His Grace is Sufficient

Dear Parents and ACCS Friends,
For this month’s instalment, let’s let Scripture speak to us about His Grace.
2 Corinthians 12:9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. May you be strengthened in that! It may seem that the row to hoe is too long–the burden too heavy. The best the world can do is offer some positive thinking strategies. Are you feeling graceless? Are you feeling too weak? Hear it from God Himself: My grace is sufficient for you! My strength is made perfect in weakness!

As we consider how we all can spread the word about ACCS, I ask you this: what would help you do that better? Is there more we could be doing to spread the word? Let me know.

It’s good to know what’s ‘in’ in education. Did you know…4 Things All Project-Based Learning Teachers Should Do. One of the central features of high quality project-based learning is the pedagogical relationship between the Driving Question and the “Need to Knows” that stem from it. In the video (https://youtu.be/9961VkudWRo) you see the use of the Explain Everything app to show how teachers and schools, using a process of rich inquiry, can leverage great thinking and learning by flipping how you approach the concepts behind Bloom’s Taxonomy.
Instead of starting at the bottom and focusing on the teaching and learning of content prior to moving up, consider flipping that approach by starting at the top and asking students to create an authentic product with a strong Driving Question. Doing this can help the teacher facilitate deeper learning of the content and skills we find at the lower level as students identify and pursue what they need to know, remember, and understand to create and meet the challenge of the project. Would you like to see more PBL at ACCS?

Have you ever considered how you cold be more involved at the school? Have you considered reading to a class for story hour once a week starting in September?
Send us an email or call if you think you can help–even if it would be now and then.

Let’s see if you can solve this one:
Which word, if pronounced right, is wrong, but if pronounced wrong is right? (solution below) …And, did you know? The giraffe sports the longest tail of the land animals at up to nearly eight feet long.

Partnering with you for a Christ-centred education,

Mr. Richard Sommer, Principal

PS. In the last few weeks, we shared this and we thought we should pass it on to you. Our school is a member of the Christian School Foundation. Sometimes people hear the word “Foundation” and they think they can only arrange gifts that are held forever (“in perpetuity”), but that is not the case. Our Foundation has many different ways that you can arrange to support our school! If you’d like to learn more, contact office@christianschoolfoundation.ca
and we will help make this happen!

Solution: Wrong! (and the right answer is wrong!)
