Here we are with the last problem for the school year. Last week we sent over 24 000 emails at this level. We are so pleased to see Problem of the Week growing and reaching more people every year. Thank you so much for your continued support. Next week you will receive the solution to this problem and then we will start sending new problems again in September 2021.

If you’re looking for more problems before September, the following might be of interest to you. The CEMC is excited to announce The Canadian Junior Team Mathematics Challenge; a new team activity for Grade 6, 7, and 8 students! Students will work together, in teams of 4, to solve math problems, complete puzzles, and participate in math relays. The materials will be emailed, at no cost, to interested teachers on June 1, 2021. For more information, and to sign up to receive the materials in June, please visit the following link: https://uwaterloo.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9TtL6smfHXkwtLg.

In this week’s problem, we look at some lunar eclipse data. Enjoy.

A link to the solution to last week’s problem is included in this email. Students can get lots of practice doing mental math with this problem.

Stay safe and happy problem solving.
