On March 25th the Grade 1/2 students went on a virtual trip to the Kortright Centre for Conservation.  They had an interactive tour of the sugar bush.  They learned how to identify a maple tree in the forest, how old and how big a maple tree has to be before it can be tapped, how the Indigenous People and the Early European Settlers turned sap into maple syrup, and how it’s done today.  Afterwards they went down to our school sugar bush and visited with Mr. John who showed them how he was making maple syrup.  They tasted some sap he was boiling and enjoyed being outside in the beautiful sunshine.  They ended their time with a picnic lunch in the playground.  Thank you God for providing a warm, sunny day.
