Has your tongue ever gotten you into trouble? It’s a handy little tool, that tongue, but it can cause a lot of harm! James says in his letter (1:19, 20), “So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.” I want to put that out to us as a challenge. We are blessed with a very positive and supportive community. What can happen, however, is that an issue in the community can be cycled through the proverbial “rumour mill” and cause disunity and dissension. The best thing we can do for our community, in the interest of protecting each others’ and the school’s good names, is to take James’ advise: be swift to hear, but slow to speak and slow to anger.

On another note, I want to highlight our music (beginning at Grade 3) and our band (Grade 5+) programs. Our program is focused on building musical competence, self-discipline and technical skill. Having a quality music program in our little school is a great blessing! The skills our students are learning and reinforcing are so valuable. Normally, students have WEEKLY practice cards to fill out for their 15 minutes of practice PER DAY, six days a week. As things are now, with the restrictions on wind instruments, Mrs. Martin is doing a fabulous job teaching the students in Grades 3+ music theory, based on the Royal Conservatory books. Please continue to encourage your children to value music training as we continue to hold the standard high.

We are pleased to welcome Mr. Robert Yu into our school as part of the Learning Support staff. He will be assisting students 1:1 or in small groups. He is a certified Ontario teacher, and a faithful Christian man. We are blessed to have him to assist our students.

Have you left your testimonial on the ACCS website? Here is one: Christ-focused Family! Having spend the past two years at ACCS, all four of our children continue to grow in their faith, friendships, and knowledge. The passion that the teachers and staff bring to the school, the sense of community and family with other parents, and the way that the school upholds its Christian and educational values truly sets ACCS apart. Go to www.allistonccs.com/testimonials/ to leave yours!

It’s a great way to make a difference! Contact us. We are also looking for one or more drivers who are willing to make the commitment to drive students in to school every morning and/or afternoon from the Holland Landing area, starting in September.

Prayer Corner:
Do you wish you would pray for other countries more, but don’t know where to start? Pray for  Greece.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for protecting my family. We pray for those in our school family who are grieving the loss of a loved one, a grandfather! Comfort them. Today I ask You to also extend Your hand of protection and peace across our nation in areas torn apart by violence. Minister to victims of violence and work to transform those who act in violence. Send Your angels to guard over the innocent. We commit to You our classroom volunteers too. Thank You so much for them, for their love, for their commitment. Thank you for adding to them Mr. Yu! Blessing and honour be to You for the many special people in our students’ lives–grandparents, aunts and uncles– who encourage and build them up in Godly ways. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
