Dear Families and Friends,
For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17

Sometimes the astounding prospect of the future return of Jesus is obscured by the differences that Christians have about exactly when and how that will be. Maybe when you read those verses, you say, “Ok, Lord! I’m ready! I’m done with all that’s going on here on earth!” That is an understandable reaction! The isolation and curtailment can be overwhelming! May I say to you, however, that our anticipation of His return should be primarily in the prospect of seeing HIM face to face–the one Whom we love! This verse set is in my topics for our school because it should really be central to who we are at ACCS. It should impact how we teach, how we do family, how we raise our kids: how we live, and even how we view death. May this reality inspire us today and every day with a sense of eager anticipation!

This week (Week 22, 18 to go), let’s pause and think about our full-time Kindergarten (JK & SK) program that lays a great foundation educationally for Grade 1. It is the season of love—celebrating the beautiful gift of “horizontal love.” What makes horizontal love peculiar is that its fulness cannot be experienced or comprehended without the vertical, that is, without God’s love. Why would that be so? Animals are able to be fully effective in their functions as animals without any conscious consideration of God (we assume). Plants and crops fulfill God’s mandate to glorify Him without any awareness of God. Humans, however, cannot truly celebrate love or Valentines Day without God. Am I overstating the case? Sure, our unsaved friends can love. They may even demonstrate greater feats of love than Christians–greater self-denial, greater devotion. In those cases, and for each of us, whatever love there is will reach a higher level when it comes from the Divine love of God. Just this week, a teacher quoted someone who said (loosely), “Our acts of love are just so many zeros, but with the love of God, He puts a “1″ in front!”

We were blessed last week with a special Valentines Day chapel put on by the Grade 1/2 class. We considered what the Word of God says about love. It was a blessing! May you and your loved ones celebrate the gift of love in special ways and words!

Have you left your testimonial on the ACCS website? Here is one:
Public school was a struggle. As a child I struggled in the public school system and was being left behind. At ACCS the teachers approached my parents to identify some learning difficulties within the first week of school. The personal attention I received in those early years made a great difference in teaching me to read and catch up with the rest of my peers. I can honestly say that if it were not for the dedication of the teaching staff at ACCS I never would have graduated from university with an honours Bachelor of Science. Years may have passed but the excellence and dedication of the staff at ACCS remains the same and that is why I chose ACCS for my children.”

How would you respond to this observation?
“Always to see the general in the particular is the very foundation of genius.” — Arthur Schopenhauer. Is that true?

Please help! We invite people to join our volunteer team. There are many jobs available such as the feature task of the week: painting a room during the next break.
We would love to hear from you by email or phone–or just drop in!

Prayer Corner:
Do you want to change the world? Pray for Kenya.
Heavenly Father,
Our police officers and firefighters are Canadian heroes. Grant discernment and safety to all those who put their own lives on the line to keep our communities safe. Protect these life-saving civil servants and their families. We want to uphold our prayer warriors too–the ones who come into the school week by week, or who secretly pray for Your cause at ACCS. They are a lifeline to us! We praise and thank You for the beautiful property we have with its open field, the tobogganing slopes and the forest trail. We are so blessed! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
