Last week, we considered John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.” I have been mulling that thought over in my mind since then; it is quite a thought. This week is equally amazing and important. Jesus, as usual, is not politically correct and tells even religious leaders that they need to be born again (John 3:16) if they want to “see” (that is, be part of) the Kingdom of heaven. Is that a message your local church is still proclaiming? Jesus said, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” It is the only way to march to a different Drummer.

Does Christian day school education provide any benefit to your child(ben) in terms of resilience? It is important that early childhood educators and parents work together to develop resilience in children as early as possible. By creating a consistent, secure and fair social environment, with clear expectations and predictable consequences, children can develop skills in managing themselves and their emotions. It’s a teacher’s job to provide a challenging environment where children can learn through first hand experiences.

Have you ever thought about winter from the perspective of someone in a wheelchair? It could seem disingenuous to say (in a two-storey school context), “We are glad you are here!” to a grandparent in a wheelchair, if he/she can’t go upstairs to see his/her grandchild’s classroom. Similarly, if your custodian shovels and salts the steps in front of the school before she clears the accessible ramp (if we had one), it’s hard for the student in a wheelchair to feel like he/she really belongs. The idea of Universal Design, and the desire to show “all belong” would see us clear the ramp that everyone can use – whether they use walkers or rollers – first. How does awareness of our friends’ situations influence how we handle the physical environment at Alliston Christian School? How can this show that we are a Community of Belonging school?

Have you heard? The most expensive book in the world is the translation of Biblical psalms, “The Bay Psalm Book” which was sold for over $14 million. It is the first book printed America and was the Puritans’ attempt to make their translation of the Old Testament book.
As for general trivia about Canada, did you know … you can swim with beluga whales in Churchill, Manitoba.

How do you measure up to this standard?
Deuteronomy 11:18-19  “Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.  Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”

Heavenly Father,
Give hope to abortion-vulnerable moms in our community. Make a way for them to understand the gift and value of the life they carry. Connect them with caring people who will enable them to choose life. Bless those who choose life with a support group and the resources to give a child not just life, but a good life. We also lift up to You all of our new families, that they would continue to feel welcome and blessed. We give You humble and heart-felt thanks for the knowledge that You reign supreme in this world, and that nothing can stand against your counsel! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
