Mrs. Nancy Burling – Preschool/Junior Kindergarten/Senior Kindergarten Teacher
Mrs. Burling has lived in the Alliston area for almost 30 years. She is married and has 2 adult sons. She has worked with preschool children, including many special needs children over many years in a variety of preschool environments. For 16 years, she has worked with JK and SK students in a Christian school setting. It has been her privilege to return to ACCS, after about 16 years.
Mrs. Burling enjoys sharing the love of Jesus with her students through stories, music, prayer, and discipline. The family community at our school provides integral support and encouragement to its staff, which she is grateful for.
Miss Sarah Hayes – Grades 1 & 2 Teacher
Born in England, Miss Hayes came to Canada at the age of five. For as long as Miss Hayes can remember she has wanted to be a teacher and has been involved in education for over 20 years. Throughout her career as a teacher, she has met some interesting people including CTV weatherman Tom Brown and former astronaut Roberta Bondar.
When not teaching Miss Hayes enjoys traveling, reading, crafts and shopping. It is rumoured that Miss Hayes is Scholar’s Choice number one customer!
Mrs. Mary Ellen Span – Grade 3 & 4 Teacher
Mrs. Span is in her 17th year of teaching in the junior grades. After graduating from Redeemer University she has taught students in grades 4, 5, & 6 in Mississauga, Guelph, and the South American country of Suriname. She moved to Alliston in 2011 after marrying Dave Span who is an alumnus of ACCS. She enjoys the opportunity to integrate faith and learning in her classroom and to use Scripture to point students to their Creator and encourage their relationship with Him.
In her spare time, Mrs. Span enjoys reading, playing volleyball, going cross-country skiing, and spending time with family and friends.
Mrs. Sarah Van Ryn – Grades 5 & 6 Teacher
Born in Prince Edward Island, Mrs. Van Ryn traveled to Alliston to teach at ACCS in 2007. After marrying her husband Tim Van Ryn in 2009, she decided she just had to stay. She lives in Lisle and has twin boys (who attend ACCS) and a girl.
In her spare time, she enjoys playing roller derby, baking pies, a good ping pong game, reading and theological discussions. She has a bachelor of theology from Kuyper College, her bachelors of education from Cornerstone University and loves challenging developing minds.
Miss Chantel Eade – Grades 7 & 8 Teacher
I grew up in Ridgetown, a small farming community in South-Western, Ontario. I received my Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education from Redeemer University. While at Redeemer I played on the Women’s Varsity Basketball team for three years and helped to facilitate the Spiritual Athletic Leadership Team.
I love coffee, hiking, playing board games, spending time with family and friends, and all things Julie Andrews. I am very excited to be joining the staff here at Alliston Community Christian School and look forward to what this first year of teaching will bring.
Mrs. Yvonne Fraser – Band Teacher
Mrs. Fraser has been teaching Band at ACCS for a number of years. Recently, she has introduced a Bucket Band to ACCS. Students learn rhythm and beat through playing drums on buckets.
Students from Grades 5 and above participate in band class twice weekly. Students have the opportunity to learn a new instrument and under the talented instruction of Mrs. Fraser, they do well.
Mr.Kieran Hoult – Grades 5 & 6 Teacher
Mr. Hoult is going into his 5th year of educational work. After working in Manitoba as an educational assistant, Mr. Hoult spent 2 years teaching Grade 4 in Fort St. John, B.C. and has recently been working as a substitute teacher for King Christian School.
Outside of school, Mr. Hoult enjoys fencing, playing games, and reading. He has his honours from Trent University and his Masters of Teaching from Griffith University.
Mrs. Linda Hostrawser – Special Education Consultant
Mrs. “H” was raised in a farming community south of Alliston and she has been a teacher for about 29 years in Toronto, Simcoe County and has returned to ACCS. She is married with 4 grown children and 6 grandchildren. She is blessed to be able to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoys hiking, reading, swimming, snowshoeing and traveling.
She has a passion for making a difference with students with different learning abilities by helping them reach their God-given talents.She truly enjoys the safe, caring and positive Christian atmosphere at ACCS.

Holly Tuninga – Administrative Assistant
Holly Tuninga has lived in Alliston for 17 years with her husband Eric, who has retired from TD Canada Trust in Alliston. Holly worked full time for 10 years in the electrical industry first as an Administrative Assistant in Alliston and then as a Service Manager for a company in Barrie. Holly has two grown stepdaughters and they are blessed with 6 grandchildren, ranging in age from 15 to 4 years of age.
Eric and Holly both enjoy biking, fishing, and reading. They are blessed with a wonderful spot up north to enjoy all of God’s creation, on and off the water. We also volunteer within the church, school, and community.
Holly has been working at ACCS for six years and it is rewarding and challenging all at the same time. She feels truly blessed to able to be a part of these students lives, God has given her more kids than she can imagine. It is a pleasure to work in the office with a great group of caring, nurturing people and many wonderful families.
Mrs. Karin Watson – Financial Assistant
Karin Watson has been the keeper of the books since 2005, maintaining ACCS’ financial records on a weekly basis. She and her husband, Glenn, have been parents in the school for 15 years, graduating 3 children.
